Current Activity and Interests

I have been a ham since January of 2012 when I got my General license as KK4GDX, upgrading to Amateur Extra in March 2012 and obtain my current call sign AK4SK. I decided to get my license mainly to participate in the public service side of amateur radio.

I am occasionally active with ARES and on some of other the local VHF repeater nets.

I joined Navy-Marine Corps MARS in the early summer of 2012. I transferred to Army MARS in 2015 when the Navy decided to end its support of the NMC MARS program. In October 2017 I resigned from Army MARS because I wanted to commit more time to my family and other activities.

On the amateur bands I enjoy JT65 and WSPR as well as occasionally trying to contact a DX station in a new country.

I hope to learn CW and get on the air on that mode.
